I've always had a love for all things creative.
Like most women, I like shopping to a certain extent, but have never been found of shopping centres. The constant rush of people, searching for an open parking spot only to have some rude "out-of-towner", coming from nowhere and stealing your spot. Who needs it? This is only one of a long list of reasons why I've always preferred outdoor craft markets.
When I was growing up, I used to assist my stepmother at various craft markets all over Cape Town. One of my favourite things about the markets was meeting the wide variety of different Artists / Crafters / Entrepreneurs. People from all scopes of life..People with a wealth of stories to tell, talents to share and lessons to teach.
I now stay in Pretoria, and after 5 years of living here, I'm still trying to get used to the very different way of life. Different to Cape Town, it seems I'm always trying to find something to do on a weekend that doesn't involve queueing somewhere.
Every so often, I would hear about a craft market or food market happening somewhere, but more often or not, by the time I hear about it, it's already happened. Which can get a bit frustrating.
So, to try and help other frustrated craft market lovers, find THE place to be on a weekend as well as assist "Crafters To Be", find a place to sell their handmade goodies...I've started That Craft Place.
The idea is to give Crafters / Artists / Craft Markets, one destination to meet all their needs. One place that connects everyone together and lets them know which market is on this weekend, where they can find the perfect gift they've been searching for, or art / craft supplies they haven't been able to find for whatever reason...
So here's to the end of seeing the same thing in every shopping centre and spending half your time finding parking...And to the beginning of new hobbies, perfect gifts and spending more time out doors celebrating the wealth of talented artists / Crafters out their!
Enjoy!
